"March Madness"

The crazy season has begun. Last weekend I watched some Illinois "Girls" Basketball tournies class 3A and 4A. Tonight starts Illinois "Boys" Tournaments. Some College Confrence Playoffs began today. By the weekend they all should be over and the 65 teams and brackets of the Colleges will be posted Sunday night/late afternoon. I tried to start a NCAA "Playoff Pool". I invited people to join and will have to wait and see as to what will happen.

"Business Ethics" gone again.

Now it's Apple who is trying to increase profits by not monitoring its foreign production sites. There are responsibilities for doing business. Safe products. Social responsibilities of decent wages and worker safety and not exploiting children. Realizing there are costs to manufacturing, I feel that that the big business interests must be watched and held responsible. Cheap products are one thing. How you arrive at that position is another. That's were responsible "journalism" comes into play, but that's a story for another time, if responsible journalism is still around to comment on.

"Big Business" no ethics !

The big gorillas, Microsoft, Cisco, Yahoo, Goggle et al are run by "young turks" who have no business ethics. These companies were re-dressed by Congress in hearings this past summer. The Congressional hearing addressed the issue of Chinese disadents being tracked down by their government through the help of these companies. These American companies used the excuse "If we don't our competition will". Which means the almighty Dollar is more important than "human rights". This can also be translated to being inexperienced in business. When starting these companies there was no need for a formal education to get into this type of business. But, as they grew faster than they could handle they promoted from within, leaving computer "geeks" to run the business in a "global" system in which they thought fast money was the answer. Retiring at the age of 30 or less.
The leaders of these companies embarass themselves with their foolish answers.
But, this doesn't end here. They are now enticing law enforcement to use their systems to track everyone and anyone at will. It's going to be a fine line between National Security and "Big Brother" caused by "Big Business".
What's the answer ???

Women's downhill

The pictures remind me of my own experience of learning how to ski in the German Alps. The real scary things about this Olympic course are that the distance from start to finish is 1.8 miles in less than a minute and dropping in height the length of two Empire State Buildings.

1st day of Olympic competition-Apollo Ohno

Apollo Ohno was "lucky" at the end of the 500. Not that he isn't good but, if the two Koreans hadn't knocked each other out it would have been a Korean sweep, 1, 2, 3.
Women's Moogles was great. Even my "couch potato" wife liked it.

Purpose

I think I finally came up with a purpose for this blog. It's main purpose is to ease my frustrations. Too ponder thoughts. Maybe even pander to some thoughts. Life has been unusual since I became sick and recovery has been slow. It was on a daily basis of improvement. Now, its slowed to a weekly or monthly improvement. I feel I'm getting closer to 100%.
The past months have been spent reading and mindless games on the computer(Solitare, Crossword Puzzles).
Reading has been on Politics or political science, business news, my youngest daughter's history, and political science text books. She is in college majoring in secondary eduction, history major and psychology endorsement. She will be entering her last year and next Spring she will be Student Teaching.(A 5 year student)
Questioning Life's purpose!
Questioning the World and it's floundering.
For example: Gas prices? What are the other forces that will be affected and effected. Bicycle sales? Commuter ridership? Vacations? Ethanol, corn prices, corn production, where does the increased prices go and come from. Where does the price of ethanol become less than gasoline and the cost of converting engines. The change from SUV's to small compacts. the change of the mindset of people to reduce consumption on whatever level.
China's lack of control and enforcement for safe products. USA's lack of control and enforcement of of products. that also includes Microsoft and Cisco's lack of caring about civil rights as opposed to the almighty dollar.
Business World Conscience?? So many questions, so few answers.
Myanmar, Islam, WORLD PEACE???

Summer?

Is it ever going to arrive
